These ZCI spring guides are the same ones sold by SHS, HC, Core, etc just cheaper due to ZCI's pricing and lack of complex packaging. These all stainless steel ball bearing spring guides for version 2 (M4, M16, MP5, and variants, G3, and M249) gearboxes. The main purpose of this upgrade part is to release torsion buildup in the spring that can cause premature failure and poor performance. This also increases the consistency of the velocity which improves accuracy. Because of the thickness of the ball bearing it also acts as a spacer which increases velocity.
